Sometimes, when we are troubleshooting an issue with a piece of equipment we can miss the mark. We analyze and assess, but the diagnosis or fix is not quite right. This usually requires us to recalibrate or approach the issue from a different angle. Similar to the way that we might miss a shot in basketball, hurry in for the rebound, and recalibrate or shoot from a different side of the court. We get a second chance.
Living with PTSD can sometimes be a series of second chances. Maybe the first time we approached something we went into it with fear, anxiety, or indecision because it triggered something in us. Maybe we went in fighting because of a completely unrelated issue, but we were able to recalibrate or come at the issue from a different angle – we left room in our life for the rebound. The second chance.
We did not necessarily start over, but used the missed opportunity or missed moment to capitalize on. We found strength and discipline in the work that was already done and peace in knowing that we could approach things differently from the way anyone who had gone before us had done.
Remember the game does not end until that final bell is rung. There is always room for more playing time, so keep taking the shot, going after the rebound, and watch what happens when you hit the goal.
Heavenly Father, we just want to praise you and thank you for all of the work that you are doing in our lives. Great is Your faithfulness, Lord. Thank you so much for showing us that when we recalibrate or approach an issue from a different angle it helps us to capitalize and grow on the work that we have already been doing. Thank you for standing with us each time it’s time for us to take the rebound shot.
Ya’ll have a beautiful day!
All My Love,
Jen
