She appeared at my door
Tears streaming down her face
And, I said,
“All I have to offer you is hope and a hug.”
She appeared at my desk talking in circles
Faster than my brain could comprehend
And, I said,
“All I have to offer you is hope and a listening ear.”
He messaged me one day and it read,
“I don’t want to live any longer.”
And, I replied
“All I have to offer you is hope. Can you tell me more about how you are feeling?”
She came running to our door
Looking for food.
And, I said
“All I have to offer you is hope, some pretzels, and a capri sun.”
He called us on the phone one day and said,
“We have no place to live.”
And, we said
“All we have to offer you is hope, a pillow, and a blanket to keep you warm.”
He sent me a letter from behind bars that read
“I am sorry for the things that I have done.”
And, I said
“All I have to offer you is hope and a God that meets us at the door when we have come undone.”
“You see my dear, hope doesn’t come wrapped with a bow.
Rather it lifts us up and provides space for us to grow
In our faith and relationship with our Heavenly Father
Especially when we take a moment to love one another.
So, today my dear all I have to offer you is
A place to grow
A hug
A listening ear
A life
A bag of pretzels and a capri sun
A pillow and a blanket and
A God that meets you at the door when you have come undone.”
Ya'll have a beautiful day!
All My Love,
Jen
