In the garden today there are many things happening although it seems quiet and still.
After the winter storm, the plants with burned leaves and bare stems are beginning to show life again with their tiny buds. Some of them we are unsure will make it, but we are waiting and watching.
Some of them are heartier than before the freeze. It’s almost as if they needed the cold to shock them into blooming bolder and brighter.
Some of them are still seed planted months ago with no real evidence of life. We wonder if they have taken root.
And, still there’s one. One mystery seed we didn’t even know existed that looks to be a tulip bloom. Interestingly enough, tulips are my husband’s favorite flower. It only took me 28 years to learn this*. Maybe that’s why he usually gives me tulips? Who knew?
Isn’t that the way it is, sometimes? The way we are. Some of us a little bit burned or bare, some of us a little unsure, most of us wondering what life holds for us. Isn’t it great to know though that no matter what the storm we all have the ability to choose a life that is bold and bright? And, isn’t it wonderful to know that we are still waiting, still watching, still blooming together?
Y’all have a beautiful day!
All My Love,
Jen
* 28 years ago, I stood in my parents' front yard pretending to shoot basketballs into the basketball hoop. Waiting and watching as my husband pulled into the driveway in an old black Dodge truck to pick me up for our first date. Not knowing at all what to expect. We were 16. Both of us were a little unsure and wondering what life held for us. Who knew? It would hold so much!
And, according to FTD by Design tulips represent a perfect, deep or everlasting love, rebirth, happiness, confidence, royalty, cheerful thoughts, and forgiveness. Who knew???
