Lean Into PTSD - Day 18 of Prayer

Many times we want so badly to be successful or finish our work that we work and work and work until we are frazzled – worn out – and nearly unresponsive to the world around us. We want to close our eyes and just sleep, but our mind continues to race with all the things.

Soon we find ourselves compromising our standards, whirling out of control and we are not even sure how we ended up here in the first place.

When we go to Jesus in prayer- quiet, contemplative prayer or song and allow our spirit to rest, everything around us begins to slow down. The whirling stops and we settle into a healthier rhythm, a nice two step or slow dance. Our steps, light as air as we dance with Jesus. Eventually God leads our waltz to a place of peace and steps back with us from the floor. Soon we find ourselves walking right off the dance floor to a refreshing glass of ice cold water. We breathe in, stand tall and visit with others.

Doesn’t that sound wonderful?

To start the process of letting your spirit rest

Close your eyes.

Take in a deep breath.

Exhale slowly.

Repeat this until you feel your body slow down and your mind stop racing. Concentrate on the rhythm of your breathing.

Read the following Bible Verses:

“For anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from His” Hebrews 4:10.

Close your eyes. Take in a deep breath. Breathe out. Then read:

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet” Proverbs 3:24.

Lord, you know what I need even before I do. Breathe in even more deeply. Exhale slowly.

“Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:30.

“For my yoke is easy and my burden light” Matthew 11:30.

Take in one more breath.

“He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His names sake” Psalms 23: 2-3.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the time here with You. Thank you for helping me to learn how to slow down, breathe in Your love, and smile. Thank you Lord for the practice in restoring my soul and finding more peace, trust, strength, and discipline in my life. Thank you for all the gifts that you have given to us. We are forever yours. Amen.

Thank you so much for joining us in prayer. Ya’ll have a beautiful day!

All My Love,

Jen
