When I pray, one of my favorite places is next to the water. I can hear the words of one of my grandmother’s favorite songs drift through my mind… “Lord, you have come to the seashore, neither searching for the rich nor the wise, desiring only that I should follow” which leads me to ask “What is it that you need me to do?”
Sometimes, I hear only the wind and the call of the birds or absolutely nothing, but stillness and other times I hear His words. It really doesn’t matter what I hear or see. I am confident that He is with me, standing there, holding my hand. And, I know that His love is far greater than I can fathom.
His answers are worth reflecting on again and again, so write them down. Savor the wisdom and insight. Then periodically read back through your notes, similar to the way a mom or dad reads to their child, slow down and emphasize the important parts. Notice the moments when He brought you comfort and strength in times of distress or celebrated with you in moments of joy and happiness. His words may come in bits of scripture or in a tune to a song. They may come through a dream or in two or three words. Sometimes you may even hear words that you don’t want to hear.
Be still. Wait.
They probably won’t change and you might question God and think, but I don’t want to wait or be still. Like a child you might beg… “please…” Yet, you hear the same thing. Soon you learn that waiting is much like growing a seed in the garden. Sometimes they grow in only one way, but other times they grow in ways we never dreamed possible. Each day, like a child who runs into the kitchen to check on their seed growing in the window, you begin to grow in ways that you never thought possible. You begin to grow more and more excited about life here on earth and beyond. You begin to realize that life is about so much more than you realized and you want to share it with everyone, everywhere. You want to share — you want to rejoice— you get excited to be in this place.
You have evidence of His protection and provision in your life because you have been recording it in writing, through pictures, and in your heart over and over again. You see it. It didn’t always feel like it, but as you sit back while you wait, you recognize it. Thank God for this time!

Lord, as we come to the seashore seeking more peace, trust, strength, and discipline in our lives thank you for standing with us. Thank you for your unwavering love and protection. Thank you for helping us to learn how to wait, even when we do not want to. Most especially Lord, thank you for writing your love onto our hearts again and again. Thank you for helping us to make more room for you. Thank you for all the gifts that you have given to us. We are forever yours. Amen.
Thank you so much for joining us in prayer. Ya’ll have a beautiful day!
