Just like a seed there are seasons where we bloom and seasons where we lay dormant and sometimes even feel like we are withering away. In the periods of my life where I can see that I allowed my source of light to be suffocated I can also see all the hurt, the pain, and frustration that grew inside of me instead. I can see how I allowed it to overtake me and how I allowed it to also dim my spirit; instead of allowing God’s light to shine through.
God doesn’t tell us that we will go without trials. He tells us simply that in life he will be with us. He will be asleep in our boat. He only needs us to come to the seashore and climb in. He cannot always take our hurt and pain, but if we will sit with Him for a while He can help us to find peace while He is working to calm the storm.
With all of the demands on our time though, it can be hard to find space in our schedule to sleep, much less to sit with God each day. Some practical ways to come to the water and be with Him are through continued simple prayer as you go about your day. “Lord help me” or “Lord be with me as I head into…” or simply praying “Lord I need you” will put you directly in His boat.
Get into the habit of also making a bit more space for Him in your day though too. Consider waking up thirty minutes early, or plan your lunchtime to be with Him. Habits can be hard to get started in, so initially it might be a good idea to immerse yourself in God. Consider a weekend retreat or for several days in a row spend much of the day in His word and prayer. Notice where the time with Him seems to fit best. He may even help you identify those times.
And, remember the seashore can always come to your kitchen table, a comfy chair, the bathroom tile, or a corner of a room dedicated to Him. It can even come to your bed as you lay down and listen to a meditation and drift off to sleep. Remember God works even when we rest. Sometimes He even does His best work during that time. The seashore and boat with Jesus are waiting for you wherever you go. You just need to crawl in.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the vast and open seashores. Thank you for the reminder that your love is even more vast. Thank you for giving us space in your boat and reminding us that sometimes your best work comes when we rest. Thank you for helping us to make more room for you. Thank you for all the gifts that you have given to us. We are forever yours. Amen.
Thank you so much for joining us in prayer. Ya’ll have a beautiful day!
All My Love,
Jen
