“In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” Proverbs 3:6.
Growing up, I remember having valentine’s parties at school. I remember searching for just the right kind of valentines cards. Then I would quietly prepare a list of who would get what card. Careful to make sure that each person received just the right one. Many times we would participate in several activities centered around love – writing, coloring, creating, and crafting all sorts of things to include our decorated shoe box or bag depending on what our teacher deemed appropriate that year.
I remember one year we had wrapped our shoeboxes in red paper and cut a hole in the lid to be used as a slot to put our valentines in. Our teacher asked us to clean out our desks and put everything in our lockers. Then we all carefully set our valentines box in the center of our desk. Each one of us walked to the back of the room with our valentines and got into line. One after the other we followed each other around the room carefully placing our cards into each other’s boxes. All of us were so excited and eager to hand out our cards and especially eager to open the ones we received. Our little hearts were full of anticipation.
As I recall those moments of preparation, anticipation, and thankfulness, I am reminded of the importance of looking with a lens of love and carefully preparing and clearing out the path to our heart as we meet God each day. Setting ourselves, our hearts at the center of our greatest valentine. Eagerly opening our hearts up to Him, allowing Him the space to work in and through us. Our hearts, full of warmth and wonder. The good news is that we do not have to wait in line to deliver our card to our valentine, He is always there eagerly anticipating our visit.
Ya'll have a beautiful day!
All My Love,
Jen
