Share Your Deepest Hurts
Proverbs 17:17: A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Vulnerability! When I reflect on the long-lasting marriages and relationships that I have observed this is absolutely one of the qualities I have found to be consistently present.
Being able to share your deepest hurts, your deepest fears, and even regrets is one of the ways to open up incredibly beautiful conversations. It can, at times, cause you to open yourself up to an attack though too. In these moments, when your spouse opens up to you, consider taking time to spend with them. Allow them to share without question, without judgment --- give them space to talk and share. Be thoughtful about your responses and how you reciprocate their vulnerability.
These moments, these conversations are incredibly delicate and should be treated as such.
Sometimes a simple “Thank you for sharing that with me. I know that must have been hard for you” is all they need to hear. As you are having these types of conversations, consider looking up for a moment and asking God to show you how to respond. And pray for Him to cover you and your spouse’s heart, mind, body, and soul.
Ya’ll have a beautiful day!
All My Love,
Jen
