Take a moment to watch the introductory video here.
Then read below.
Most likely you arrived here because you are searching for answers, for healing, or perhaps because someone suggested that you needed this. Regardless, of why you are here it takes an extremely strong person to look within and want to know more, to want to grow, to challenge themselves, to look outside of themselves for resources, to ask for help, and to accept love and support.
Often, we are plagued by negative thought patterns and habits that have an adverse effect on our lives. They can cause us to feel that we are in a constant battle, lead us into depression, make us feel like our world is out of control and at times we can find ourselves feeling as if we are suffocating or drowning. We might not have a clue as to how we arrived at this point. More often than not though, we know exactly how we got there based on our present-day situation, but we still cannot understand why we cannot pull ourselves back up and the battle rages on.
Over the next 9 weeks, we will look back at our lives and take a closer look at our behavior and thought patterns and our deep seeded beliefs. Then, we will work to foster a growth mindset as well as discover some ways to peacefully support ourselves when those negative thought patterns come sneaking back in.
Be honest with yourself. Do not hold back. Tell the truth even when it hurts. Write out as much as you can. Stop to take breaks, sleep, cry, do what you need to do, but come back and do the work. The goal of On Fire For Life is to support you with tools and resources so that you can build an arsenal of your very own resources. Resources that will strengthen and empower you heart, mind, body, and soul as you do the hard work to build a more intimate relationship with yourself and God. By the end of this program, you will be stronger and while your arsenal may look different from everyone else’s, it is meant only for you.
Each week we will reflect on a piece of scripture taken from Prove It! The Catholic Teen Bible for the week. You will read the scripture, reflect on it, and add your notes/connections to it in the commentary section. Then complete an activity in the areas of the heart, mind, body and soul. In the event that you are not Christian, or the scripture does not meet your spiritual needs, simply replace the scripture with a meditation or quiet reflection time and when you complete the commentary write from that experience.
While you will complete these activities on your own, it is recommended that you seek the support of a small group, so that you can share your experiences and celebrate your successes.
Ultimately, the goal for the series is to provide you with a place to organize and process your thoughts as you get stronger in heart, mind, body and soul, while you grow more excited about life.
