On Fire For Life|Week 6 Day 2|Opening A Door

God’s grace and mercy meets us in the open door and our world fills with more light and love, but sometimes an open door is not meant for you to stay in.

Have you ever been in a situation where you have rounded the corner and walked through an open door only to walk in on a private conversation? You may have done a quick about face and walked out, done a little back pedaling, or quickly made yourself busy on the other side of the room.

It is important for you to walk through the open door, yes, but it may only be meant for you to step through and learn from. Some doors are open to give you a quick glimpse of what life might look like if you made a different choice. Some doors are open to give you a few moments to step away and breathe. Some doors are open and filled with temptation (whether that be to talk to someone about the private conversation you just caught bits and pieces from or eating the pack of Oreo cookies in the pantry).

When we walk through an open door either by accident or on purpose, it is important to take a moment to assess the situation and reflect. Sometimes it’s easy, every voice in our psyche is screaming abort mission. Sometimes it’s easy, every piece of us knows this is where I am meant to be. Sometimes, it is confusing, and we are unsure. In these moments, ask God to show you what He wants for you in this place. Then listen to Him.
